Designing for Healthcare Futures
How can a medication trolley reduce workload and improve efficiency, hygiene, and sustainability? How do nursing workflows inform user-friendly trolley design? What processes can be automated to reduce the stress of care staff? How can interconnected systems improve our healthcare?
Status Quo
Nurses in hospitals were observed and interviewed while using trolleys in their work Key issues include overstocking, limited cleaning, and difficulty maneuvering. Future designs should balance mobility, capacity, and ease of use.
Quantitative Survey
A detailed quantitative survey of medication trolleys with 157 nurses was conducted online. The survey gathered information on important features, issues, and potential improvements.
Medical Materials
Most trolleys are heavily stocked with items of various sizes and shapes, making organization difficult. Clear structure is rarely seen, which hinders finding specific items, especially under time pressure. Restocking the material takes up an enormous amount of time.
Business Plan
A business plan was created, covering the executive summary, internal timeline, SWOT analysis, financial planning, and also included marketing strategy.
Corporate Identity
›FLORI‹ was chosen to evoke Florence Nightingale and symbolize a nursing revolution. Logo designs, typography, and color schemes were created for strong brand identity.
Final Visualizations
A 3D model with detailed construction elements was developed and visualized.
